i filled up radiator then filled the reserve just below full line...started it an let it idle for a bit. then checked it again to see how much more to add.

Yes. You'll have to burp the system correctly though or you'll get air pockets and it'll cause over-heating. When you first start up leave the radiator cap off as this is the place for the air to escape. Let it idle for a few minutes, then rev it a few times, and then shut it off. Let it sit w/o the cap on for a while. Shake it some as well while it's sitting. Your level will go down in the rad itself, so watching and adding to the overflow bottle won't do you any good.

when you burp it do you leave the reservoir open along with the radiator cap?

 

No you don't have to, just the radiator pressure cap you need to remove.... squeeze the bottom hose a few times to make sure the air bubble out...
start/run the motor for a little before placing the cap back on....

 

I believe i checked the manual and it said something about only turning the radiator cap 1/4 turn and let idle 10 mins or so. then remove cap refill repeat. I replaced radiator and hoses
